Japanese entertainment company Toho has released a teaser video for the upcoming sequel to "Godzilla Minus One," titled "Godzilla Minus Zero." The trailer showcases the iconic monster beside the Statue of Liberty, wreaking havoc across New York.
"Godzilla Minus Zero" is set in 1949, two years after the events of the first film, and serves as a direct continuation. Familiar faces from "Minus One," namely Koichi Shikishima and Noriko Oishi, two of the first movie's main characters, also appear in the short trailer.
The kaiju flick was filmed specifically for IMAX using high-definition digital cameras. Even its audio was optimized to enhance the immersive cinema experience on the massive screen.
With "Minus One" having won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects, expectations are high for this sequel. The good news is that Takashi Yamazaki, who wrote, directed, and oversaw the visual effects for "Minus One," is also helming this new installment.
"Godzilla Minus Zero" is scheduled to hit cinemas in Japan on November 3 and in the United States on November 6 of this year.
