The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia is proposing a significant tightening of localization requirements for materials used in printed circuit boards (PCBs). This initiative outlines a plan to progressively raise the threshold for domestic content, with incremental increases scheduled to continue until 2029.
While this strategic move is designed to strengthen the position of Russian manufacturers within the industry, experts are expressing caution. They highlight concerns regarding the current level of preparedness of the sector and warn of potential risks, including a substantial rise in production costs, despite the overarching goal of fostering local production capabilities.
