Russia has commenced the construction of its inaugural facility for producing optical preforms – the crucial glass blanks from which fiber optic cables are drawn. This pioneering plant is being erected in Saransk, marking a significant stride towards achieving technological independence in the vital field of fiber optics. However, it is anticipated that the plant’s initial output will only partially fulfill the country’s overall requirements.
