A dedicated WhatsApp application has been officially launched for a select range of Garmin smartwatches. This new app is currently available for free download from the Garmin Connect IQ Store. As WhatsApp is primarily a messaging platform, this integration allows users to seamlessly read and respond to messages, send emojis, and review their chat history directly from their wrist.
Beyond messaging, the app also provides the functionality to accept or decline incoming WhatsApp calls, eliminating the need to reach for a smartphone. All communications within the app benefit from WhatsApp’s standard end-to-end encryption, ensuring privacy and security.
It’s important to note that this application is not universally compatible with all Garmin devices. Its availability is restricted to specific models within the Forerunner, Venu, Vivoactive, and Fenix series. Users can confirm if their particular smartwatch supports the app by checking the Connect IQ Store.
Garmin smartwatches represent the latest platform to receive native WhatsApp integration. Meta previously introduced a dedicated Apple Watch version towards the end of last year. Prior to that release, Apple Watch users had to depend on mirrored notifications from their iPhone to reply to WhatsApp messages directly from their device.
