In Postal III, The Postal Dude emigrates to Paradise's sister town of Catharsis as he previously blew up Paradise with a nuclear bomb. Due to the economic meltdown, the Dude drives into town and becomes stranded because he can not afford a tank of gas. He must then find work and do various odd jobs to escape the town.
Hi everyone, I'm Balder but on the Postal 3 Modding Community I am known as NEXER. This is my first Devlog about Postal 3 Redux and what is and what will become in the next months. Lets start with the first question.
What is Postal 3 Redux?
- Postal 3 Redux is a Total Conversion mod that takes the best aspects of the Steve Wik's desing docs and the beta footage of Postal 3 improving the experience and expanding the game with cut content restoration, gameplay enhancement and visual improvements for the maps.
What's new?
There is plenty of new content related to maps, animations and NPC's and planned content to be added for the mod, but lets dive into what it's already in the game.
P3Redux has a fully working fake Inventory System which allows us to grab certain helpful items that we can use to boost our stats up or heal our wounds. It's an fake Inventory System since what we are saving are just values and assigning via a 0 to 11 array that we execute on button press, in this case "I" is to go to previous items and "O" for next items... but what we are doing is adding 1 or subtract 1 (Thanks to Jenny_MCII and Kizoky for all this time teaching me)
And this is how it looks ingame
Right now the available items are:
Pizza
Foodbag
Doughnut
Candybar
These items are the ones with the function of healing the player without special secondary effects yet. While these are the only fully functional right now, there are other two type of new items which are the throwables. Throwing them causes a world effect like that AI will react to:
Catnip
This item has been tested but stills very WIP due to being not fully implemented and sometimes bugging. Here is some exclusive footage.
Sadly this item is way too unfinished and probably wont be worked until the dogpoung mission starts being developed since it's an item that can't be grabbed back by the player and saved in this Inventory System.
The other items are drug boosters that have wornoff effects after a short period of time after use. Which are Crack, Meth and Oxycontin. At first this was the initial idea to just have all these items, but since it's easy to add the rest of the items into the game in a future there will be more items like water and coffee.
New NPC's
NPC's are a big aspect of every Postal game, the variety of them is always welcome and like Postal 2, Postal 3 has a ton of cut variety of NPC's that are very interesting. In this case, we will have returning NPC's from the Beta and never seen before designs from the concept arts. Recently, some weeks ago before this article and the full mod presentation, we got into our hands a discovery of how Prefabs and Boltons worked in Postal 3, giving us plain field for making randomized variety of cosmetics and NPC's and this all thanks to Tristian886 and ABRAoriginal from Postal 3 Modding Server.
M_Big_tt_Pants
This NPC has a total variety ol +40 variants at the moment, he is a basic bystander roaming Catharsis and can be seen everywhere.
F_Avg_ss_Skirt
A special character variant of the F_Avg that wears a skirt (Green shirt variant texture made by RidiculousRobot)
This are the current new variants but not the unique that will be in the game. Here is a sneak peak of the WIP new NPC variants.
F_Slut and as the name suggests it's a slut or a prostitute with a very gross looking design roaming Catharsis.
And finally F_Thin, a female variant of M_Thin with a long skirt.
What to expect in the future?
This all is a small Sneak Peek of what is to come but there is a long list of stuff that I personally would like to work into the game like a functional Vendor System, this was previously conceptualiced but with a Mission Selector which stills being planned but more into the future.
I also want to add Pigeons back into the game since their model stills in the game files but his AI is a mystery of how it works, at the modding server we where testing this to see if we could get it to work and we short of did in a way... Junky but was a beginning, this flying rat was walking. Stills further experimentation to see if it's even possible to add it back fully functional.
The list is big and the future is bright.

People always say RWS is not to blame, it's all Akella's fault but hear me out:
Akella didn't force them to write such a lame script with terrible jokes and references, they didn't make them do those terrible voiceovers or put a gun to their head and make them write that awful story. RWS was on a downward spiral right after Postal 2 with Apocalypse Weekend and Postal 3 was the natural conclusion of this. The best example of this downward spiral is Postal 4, a game that's tonally nothing like the beloved Postal 2, which is it's main inspiration. RWS lost its edge years ago.
Of course Akella messed things up, surely the game could have turned out much better, especially stability-wise, but it was never going to be a good game, it's skeleton was messed up from the start.
You know, RWS does still have the source code and the only reason they haven't fixed it is because it's in Russian.
So theoretically, if you had a team willing to work on the game, fix the bugs and balance it all out (of which there are at least two that I know of) and at least one or more Russian coders (and I'm sure there must be some around) then maybe, just maybe, RWS could be persuaded to let a hypothetical dev team have a crack at fixing that S.O.B.

That's not true, the source code is not in Russian, but there are already teams working on revisiting Postal 3 unofficially
RWS absolutely hate the game, so they're not going to officially sponsor projects related to P3

Install the No-DRM fix. Verify integrity of game files through Steam. Play. In that order.
according to that Guest user said that the grenade crashes the game, this issues is common and according on PCGamingWiki, it's only happen on NODRM fix, this has been finally fixed with that P3 Sourcemod template which includes the fix: Moddb.com
and even with that, that wasn't enough as Postal 3 can crashes easily in some other ways, and theres no way to fully fix that issues without access to the game source code or reverse engineering it, RWS may have the source code but its likely written in Russian, and they (probably) don't want to translate the comments written on the code as it's costing them lots of time and money, resources so they decided to gave up to going back to Postal 2 to creating Paradise Lost.
EDIT: Just use the latest Steam or Zoom Platform version instead, as it's included the fix out of the box, while also fixing the crashing issues and alot more. Everything above is now out of date.
so sad this game was turned to ****. I'm glad to see that people are recreating it though. :/
