Bots barely do what they're supposed to. They never pick up dog tags that or navigate at all. It becomes super easy to win without even trying. Plus the performance can be really bad, either from too many bots or the map has little to no optimization (And we thought Crysis ran awfully). And it's been 3 years since the last update and the author just gave up. Such wasted potential.
Defenses are completely overpowered to a stupid degree. Ruins campaign mode. It's not fun to have to spend a massive amount of time in ever single system sniping from clouds. Which you cant speed up because they have an aoe that will kill anything it hits, so you have to be ready to move the entire freaking time. You cant use any ordinance on them because they have SO MANY TURRETS. If you like cloud camping for a half hour in every single fight, this is the mod for you. If you want to do anything else, dont bother.
not bad mod but is not very nice
I appreciate the effort that goes into projects of this size, but the balancing is just impossible. Every faction except for vikings has ridiculous income penalties and it's essentially unplayable if you try to do anything except participating in the modders' nordicist escapist fantasy. The income penalties makes the creation of units or buildings impossible past the first turn. I'm talking just one default army built and every settlement having -1000+ income for no discernable reason. Not to mention that several important buildings are totally bugged and don't allow for new unit production, even if you decide to cheat yourself money.
Basically unplayable unless you want to LARP as vikangs.

As a first time DoW player, and more than 30 years in RTS and strategy games of all type, i see this to change the great basic mechanics in a Starcraft(1 or 2, are the same gameplay) wanna-like be, making units and mouse clicks spamming play is not good at all! also i encouter a game breaking bug in a map during campaing in the first hour.
Not scary. Barely worth downloading.
The second Serpentholm map is literally impossible to do, I tried even with some cheats like unlimited rice and water and yang. Still IMPOSSIBLE TO DO.
Serpent for some reason has the number of units like I'm playing vs 3 serpents not one. Constantly attacking you from all directions with massive troops.
Don't try to attack back once you survive, 30 more is always waiting for you in the West village.
All in all mod was fun for a couple of levels.
It is bug ridden, purely developed, with pure story and pure voice acting which doesn't make hard missions worth it at all...
If you just wanted to get a vibe for it and play a couple of levels. Fine, but don't invest to much in this as it's not worth it at all...
Mod has much bugs and it's really bowed.
The good: It fits really well in the RA2 universe
The Bad: I was hoping for a real Yuri campaign, not whatever this is. Also the mission are not really well thought out.
the acting is terrible
With each new update, there is no optimization, the factions are not made according to the lore, the factions are made up.
Models, sounds, units are stolen from other games and mods.
Disbalanced factions.
I personally liked the development of the mod before 6.9.
There are also many bugs in factions.
I was really looking forward to 7.0... but the devs let me down.

Mod is too complicated, the AI is super hard and not for casual gamers like me, no wonder RTS games are Dying(this Mod is catered towards pro players and old school fans of this game)
**** me, i really, REALLY wanted to like this mod...but this ain't it, chief.
THE GOOD:
-Training map is amazing and i really liked the ambush aspect of it. The turrets give you time to spot them.
- First chapter is decent enough, with some pretty detailed levels.
-Cheesy boss battle. Quick and painless.
-New weapon/enemies models.Gimmie, gimmie.
-I like arctic campaings.
THE BAD:
- Inconsistency. Some models are very detailed for a half life mod, while others look very bad. Some trees are fully modeled, while the rest are 2d doom sprites.
- THE HUD. IT'S BLUE SO WHEN YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE SKY OR ARE FIGHTING IN THE SNOWY TERRAIN YOU CAN BARELY SEE YOUR CROSSHAIR/AMMO.
- Weapons inconsistency. I get it, some weapons are good, others are bad, but ffs the deagle and ak are USELESS. The uzi barely works in close range. You will spend 90% of your time with mp5 and shotgun.
-Enemy placements. Cheesy turret spots and some are in corners of the map.
THE UGLY:
- Backtracking. Enough said.
- Map geometry is bad. I get stuck in everything. Some places even require me to noclip to get unstuck.
-No autosave. Tedious.
- Music. Omfg the bitcrush for goldsource is really rough >:C
CONCLUSION:
It's a shame, really. It had potential, but it flopped really hard. One of the few half life mods that i will not replay again.
