Based on Warhammer 40,000 the third and final expansion to the genre-defining and critically-acclaimed RTS, Dawn of War. In Soulstorm, two new armies are introduced – Sisters of Battle and Dark Eldar - raising the total number of playable armies to nine. The revolutionary meta-game that was first introduced in Dark Crusade is further expanded to an interplanetary scale, allowing players to battle across the star system.
Just the Camera Mod from the now defunct Relic News, for anyone who has never added any mod that adds it. This will enable you to zoom out much further than originally in vanilla DOW 1 and makes it much easier to see the battlefield.
Does this work for multiplayer with people that do not have it?
Yep-
Awesome! thanks so much for this :)
Only one thing. As I zoom out further than normal the top of the screen starts to become clouded out and you begin to see less of the map where it is in the top part. Not like fog of war but like the filed of view is shrinking. Any thoughts?
thanks again!
thanks for the share! this is so usefull
now to be able to get rid of that distance camera fog... high vviews are useless because of it.
I edited the mod's lua file so the line "DistMax = 70.0" becomes "DistMax = 38.0" This seems to be the sweetspot where you can barely see the fog. You can ofc finetune that value if you want to.
Been a long time. For those of you talking about the clouds and who are disappointed about it, that has to do with map skyboxes which this does not change. This addon is not meant for you to watch everything from a very far off distance like the UA mod. This mod is simply designed so you aren't way too close to the screen like in the standard game: Not super far away from the screen, but less close to the screen. The base game is a really really small screen which is painful. This addon is not meant for you to see the whole map at once. In short, this addon works best at its medium range, not its fully extended one.
If you get a longer camera like the one from UA it will be even worse since again, the maps have not been adjusted to accommodate the camera, and you will zoom way into the distance and see nothing but clouds. That is why I chose to share this lesser distant camera as it is because with the UA camera you will back up into absolute nothingness. Hope that clears things up, and I am happy for those of you who find this mod helpful. For those of you who do not like, well I hope you can find some other resource that yields the desired effect.
Does this work for the Dark Crusade?
Hi guys. I've literally done everything to get the mod installed. But nothing. Tried the DPX and WH40 folders but nothing. Please help. Am missing something? I've tried extracting straight from the folder and also use 7z.
Have you tried using the loose .lua files rather than the folder?

I just wanna ask, Can this mod be used in any other mods like stronghold, uni. wars and Titanium wars?

is this mod compatible with the entirety of DoW 1 or is it just Soulstorm?
Does this work for the Dark Crusade?
Yeah, something doesn't want to work.
I put the 3 files directly into the Data folder.
I also try into the wh40k data folder.
What's the problem? Thx
To people wanting to know if it works on DoW 1: yes. I used it with succes on the Steam version on the game: just follow the instruction to put the 3 files into /Engine/Data folder.
Simple but very useful, also works with Dark Crusade.
Very nice mod indeed.
Doesn't work on the Steam version of Soulstorm.
Placing file or all three files lose, in a folder or zip in a Dawn of War Soulstorm\DXP2\Data does nothing.

same here, i dont have steam version, i put the three files in data and nothing, tried several skirmishs games and nothing.
Works for me on Steam Soulstorm.
I extracted the three .lua files into [Steam location]\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Soulstorm\DXP2\Data , restarted the game and it works.
(Also works in Steam Dark Crusade)
don't lie

for steam version you neead to drop it in:
Dawn of War Soulstorm\Engine\Data
would this work with dark crusade?
Yes, works with both Soul Storm and Dark Crusade, mate...
Just tried it, first time mod, its stuck at zoomed all the way in on both games now.
It was working fine for like, 2 weeks, then one day it just stopped zooming out, I've reinstalled the files 3 times now to no avail,
Has anyone got any leads?
edit: I found out it works on Dark Crusade though. The same files don't work on my Soulstorm though. I've tried putting them in my engine/data folder instead of the DSP2 one but that didn't work either.

Works on original Soulstorm.
Put .lua files in DXP2\Data and be sure to enable 3D Camera in Game Settings

I was having trouble getting this to work too, found out it was because of the mod I was running, "Tartarus and Lorn V Campaigns for Soulstorm" mod with the Optional addons (although I think that the addon does not matter).
To run this mod you need to go to Game Manager and activate "Campaign Missions". So I guess you're basically running a different... expansion or game or version of the game or what ever you want to call it.
This mod put a folder called "Campaignfixes" in the main Soulstorm folder. Which means that DXP2\Data isn't the right folder to put this in, it needs to go in "Campaignfixes\data".
I assume other mods will have some other similar folder where you need to put these .lua folders.
Hope this helps others.

This worked for me thank you!!!!!!
EDIT: if you are using a big mod/overhaul such as the bug-fix mod you have to put these files in that mods folder data file inside soulstorm folder.
So for the bug-fix mod it was soulstorm\bugfix\data.
Only then it actually worked, because in the game the active "overhaul" was the bugfix so the game drew on its data.
If the files do not work for you, just turn on 3d view in the graphical options in main menu. Without that option enabled, the scroll to further away will not work.
