Aydin's Grass Tweaks

A lightweight grass mod that provides 4 distinct looks to the games environment, This includes a lush spring preset, a dead winter preset, a vibrant summer preset and an autumn preset that's something inbetween.
Its pretty much a collection of tweaks I made to the terrain/levels and details of the grass from the Golden Autumn Redux texture pack from FabioConte.
This was made specifically for use with Hippo's Atmospherics addon.

These will work fine with any other combination of flora mod's as long as this mod is placed after them in the load order.
WHATS NEW / CHANGELOG

Dying Autumn:
Fixed 1px-2px lines on the heads of grass on some levels (Please report any I missed on the discord thread)
Weird distant blue-grey mipmap on yantar fixed.
Agroprom and Yantar reworked slightly.
Added missing texture for rostok.
Vanilla Summer:
Completely redid the summer preset to look more natural and a little less vibrant, closer to what I originally had in mind.

Dying Autumn:
- Retoned and coloured all most all maps grass textures
- Removed Buggy dead trees
- New swamp reeds (thx to simply autumn, light saturation changes)
- Retoned and coloured default Anomaly grass detail textures

Dying Autumn:
- Tweaked hue & saturation for many levels to remove tones that were too orange or red and add more variation.
- Removed dodgy limansk grass with the weird pop-in.
- Removed Simply Autumn detail textures (was making terrain too flat when combined with the mod).
- Modified tree's and foilage from Kemelvorkorp's desaturated tweak of Iretuerye's golden autumn retexture to better fit the inteded aesthetic
and is now optionally included with the dying autumn preset as "Taiga forest trees" (select it inside the FOMOD installer).
Summer
- Modified tree's and foilage from Kemelvorkorp's desaturated tweak of Iretuerye's golden autumn retexture to suit the summer look.
It is also now included with the vanilla summer preset.
- Fixed oversaturation on some grasses.
- Removed blue tones on dead shrubs / twigs.

- New Vanilla Summer grass textures to create a more default 2.0 look for use with vanilla anomaly textures or other summer/greener mods (Summer redux by FabioConte highly recommended)
- Added FOMOD installer for ease of use.
MANUAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Copy and paste the gamedata and DB files located in the relevant seasonal folders including trees
to your root anomaly directory.
GAMMA/FOMOD INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Install the .rar archive using mod organizer and place it at the end of your load order.
2. NOTE: FOR GAMMA USERS ONLY:
Disable the following mods in the mod organizer:
- 241 - Simple Autumn Retexture No leaves - Daedalus-Prime (the detail textures are already included with this mod for compatibility)
- 232 - Gardener of the Zone Textures - YuriVernadsky
- 272 - Grulag's Dead Bushes - Grulag
RECOMMENDED SETTINGS

Use the console or modify your user.ltx to include the following:
r__detail_density 0.25-0.35

Ensure your Mip Bias slider is turned all the way up for maximum quality!

I actually hope you add the winter grass, I am using the inferno winter retexture and I would love some new winter grass.
Regardless I love how you added two packs I have the golden summer redux and the golden autumn pack so those packs will be perfect with your grass textures! :)

I installed summer vanilla options.
Your modification helped me solve the problem of flickering textures (trees and grass). Thank you. But there are still autumn trees (texture flickering). Is it possible to replace the autumn trees too (in the summer version)?
there are no autumn trees in the summer version, the ones that still appear are the default anomaly trees that appear in red forest and parts of garbage and agroprom.
I know that these are not your trees :) I ask you to replace these autumn trees :)
Thank you for your good work, I really like the new vegetation because it drastically reduces the flicker. Could you please create a version with vanilla colors? I have already tried the "vanilla" pack but I find that it is too desaturated. I will be extremely grateful to you.
probably not, these were made to my preferences and id rather focus on fixing errors.
Ok no problem I understand. I myself tried to modify the grass with the software GIMP but impossible to obtain a result without flickering and this even by exporting the included mip map. Could you tell me the procedure to follow to keep the same quality pls ?
dont use gimp, use photoshop with the nvidia .dds plugin

Try replacing the textures but make a copy file of each then try to so your game wont break?

Enhanced shaders mod and screen space shaders mod are good places to start, as well as hippobots atmospherics which I have listed in the description.

Thanks! This makes Anomaly look so much better, including the new trees (the annoying shimmering is also gone). Great variety, and it fits with the STALKER esthetics beautifully. This is a must-have IMO. Well done!

Some trees have heavy flickering in the distance (and also fairly close). Look at the dead/brown leaves trees for instance in Zaton, north of the Iron Forrest Anomaly fast travel point. The flickering is quite intense.
Hopefully you can fix this, otherwise everything looks great. (I use the recommended settings with object quality at max, AFx16 etc.).

tl;dr, vanilla stuff im not going to bother with.
Long explanation:
if you are using any other preset than winter then these specific trees along with a few others are default anomaly textures and have not been changed as seen in these screenshots, this is a vanilla issue with those dead trees. if you are using winter preset the tree's have the same problem as they are duplicates of the corresponding vanilla dead tree textures (I did not make the dead tree's in the winter preset, these were from fabio contes winter mod that most likely borrowed them from simple autumn redux). This is three issues being compounded, i.e. stalker doesn't seem to handle aliasing/rendering well without anti-aliasing and even then, still rubbish, secondly the dead textures edges are quite thin and wirey as opposed to the fuller live trees and thirdly the mip-maps of the vanilla dead tree's are awful and distorted making things even worse.
This was somewhat remedied with the grass considerably by hand editing all the mipmaps, however as the vast majority of the live trees are at a much more acceptable level of aliasing (at least at my native resolution of 1440p) this was more or less a final update, version 3 was supposed to be the last, at least in the forseeable future I do not intend to go back and hand edit every mip map for every tree texture for all 4 variants, nor clean up vanilla anomaly texture issues.
three easy ways to mitigate this would to be replace the dead trees alltogether by copy pasting and renaming the corresponding live trees, or dropping the
mip bias slider to the left (tf_mip_bias 0.5) however this may be unacceptable to many due to a drastic decrease in texture quality overall.
and definitely dont use the winter trees, I dont, these are there for people who absolutely have to have a dead look.

Hopefully you'll reconsider adding an improved version of those dead trees at some point. The upgrade in visual quality with your addon is very impressive, and those dead trees are real eye-sores. It's really the only thing missing from your addon afaik, otherwise vegetation looks outstanding now.

definitely they are, lifestorock was doing the painstaking work of fixing up the mipmaps on dead trees but they were never released.
I might take a look at them at a later point but id really like to move on to adding some new weapons before I come back to this or my UI mod.
Fair enough. Please keep in mind that there are lots of options for more guns, but fixing those trees would be a major upgrade for maps like Yantar and Zaton. Either way, keep up the good work. Your mods are much appreciated!

Is the summer grass supposed to look brown? Trying to get it to look like the picture with hippos atmospherics but it just looks very dry, brown reddish almost like early autumn. Spring looks alright but it's a bit too light green for my taste :P

It depends on the map, time of day, colour settings, weather and reshade preset. It is meant to be a more sun-scorched drier summer look, which is why I made the spring preset for those who want something more green.

Nah thanks I'll just use your spring preset then. Idk why but your grass is the densest looking without performance loss and your trees don't look pixelated at all.
All in the mip maps, theres some sacrifices made with pixel real estate but i think the compromise is worth it some will look blocky in the distance depending on your mip bias setting (i recommend minimum -0.5, max -1.0)
